(MISC) Meaning behind “Love Song” Lyrics!

So, I’m reading the sidenotes that GD wrote in red regarding the true meaning of the lyrics(what he was thinking of when writing this song)… and the way he expressed the literal feelings(the notes in red) are so much “stronger” than how it’s worded in the actual lyrics.

We all know that “Love Song” is about a guy mourning over his deceased girlfriend, right? And a lot of fans were denying the fact that it was about a dead girlfriend, but now we have proof!

Well, let’s see what genius composer Kwon Jiyong was thinking when he was creating this song!

* italicized = GD’s sidenotes in red

TOP’s beginning rap:
“A woman grows farther away while a man sings a song, but his eyes grow teary at farewell.”
- a woman = the girl who was going out with me (“me” as in each Big Bang member’s perspective. I’m guessing he wants each member to sing the song as if it was truly about themselves)
- grows farther away = death taking it’s toll on his girlfriend
- a song = a song created for the death of her

DAESUNG’s part:
“I can’t touch you, I know, yeah, catch me from falling, hello”
- I know = although he knows that he will never be able to touch her, these (two words) are the only way he can express that disappointment.
- falling = the guy’s suicide attempt
- catch me = asking the girlfriend to greet him… hello

GD’s part:
* No sidenote regarding literal meaning, he just wrote how to sing the part & where to emphasize the words.

TAEYANG’s part:
“I hate this love song, I’ll never sing it again, so I’m not reminded of you, so I can forget you”
- so I’m not reminded of you, so I can forget you = the reason why he will “never sing it again”

SEUNGRI’s part:
“I hate this love song, I’ll sing it with a smile, so you aren’t lonely, to you I will go.. ooh~”
- smile = a way to try to forget (about her)
- so you aren’t lonely, to you I will go = he doesn’t want her to be lonely, so he is commiting suicide

GD’s part:
“I’m scared, this world has no meaning, take me to where you are, among the moon and the stars”
- scared, this world has no meaning = he’s scared in a world where the girlfriend doesn’t exist
- where…. among the moon and the stars = (talking about the sky) sky = the grim reaper who will take him to his girlfriend

DAESUNG’s part:
“We were beautiful, you know, you taught me love, hello”
- we were beautiful = reminiscing past memories
- you know = talking to the girlfriend up in the sky

TOP’s 2nd rap:
“The warm sunlight is part of another world, sitting atop a green hill among the dancing reeds. I’m continuing my unfinished conversation with my love, but I get no response, you’re a star hiding behind the sky’s white clouds”
- another world = the world where the girlfriend now lives in
- conversation = the conversation that ended because of the girlfriend’s sudden death
- the sky’s white clouds = are taking the girlfriend away & where angels and demons separate
- a star = the distance the grim reaper has taken the girlfriend away from him

GD’s part:
“I close my eyes and feel your breath, I dream of you and a smile spreads across my lips, I’m breathing with you now. Please stop passing, Time, don’t separate us. Please stop, Wind, this is my last letter to you”
- i close my eyes and feel your breath, I dream of you… = if he can’t meet her any more in the actual world, he will have to meet her through his dreams
- a smile spreads = the happiness of meeting her once again (in his dreams)
- I’m breathing with you now = he has just committed suicide and is in the same place as her(dead), that is why he is able to breathe with her now
- please stop passing time/wind = slightly missing Earth, but still happy to be in the other world with his girlfriend now.
